Nos Miseri Homines was founded in 2013 by a group of 6 Choral Scholars and Lay Clerks from the world famous Cathedral Choir of Christ Church, Oxford. Since its resurrection in 2016, it has expanded to include young professional singers from Chichester and Winchester Cathedrals, other Oxford and Cambridge colleges, and London conservatoires and consorts.
Always performing as just one singer on each part, it has received praise from audiences for its exciting blend and intimate style of performance.
The name, which translates as “We unworthy [or miserable] men” is the first line of the college grace at Christ Church, which is read each evening before dinner. It is not a comment on the disposition of those singing.
